Book talk and launch of Gloria Esguerra Melencio’s “Sa Ngalan ng Tigaman (Santigaman) Saksi ang Mamaratbat at Babaylan”

UP Tacloban’s Leyte-Samar Heritage Center (LSHC) invites everyone to a book talk and launch of Gloria Esguerra Melencio’s “Sa Ngalan ng Tigaman (Santigaman) Saksi ang Mamaratbat at Babaylan” on 19 November 2025, 1:00 to 4:00 PM, at the LSHC Gallery.
Santigaman, edited by Dr. Ma. Luisa T. Camagay and translated into Waray by Charo Nabong Cabardo, documents the rituals of Samar and Leyte’s babaylan and mamaratbat healers, tracing their pre-Hispanic roots and continuing presence today.
The event forms part of LSHC’s Katluàn Calendar marking its 30th founding anniversary and coincides with the National Book Week and Library and Information Services Month.
