UP Tacloban Computer Science students win top spots in regional cybersecurity competition

Team RollingThunder and Team Di Pinili of UP Tacloban College placed 1st Runner-Up and 2nd Runner-Up, respectively, in the Hack4Gov 2025 Capture-The-Flag competition organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region VIII on 1 December 2025 at Madison Park Hotel.
 
Team RollingThunder, composed of Rafahil D. Palompon, Dwayne Michael Sean C. Cabrigas, Alexander Ian B. Avila, and Morescyl Vance C. Ortega, was coached by BS Computer Science instructor Mr. Allan Fritzgerald Amistoso. Team Di Pinili, composed of Jade Eric I. Petilla, Jhun Kenneth R. Iniego, Andrei Ernest G. Martillo, and Gian Angelo S. Tongzon, was coached by Mr. Samson Rollo, Jr, also an instructor in the same program.
 
Hack4Gov 2025 aims to engage students in cybersecurity through a Capture-The-Flag format that tests their skills in cryptography, web security, network security, and other key areas.
