Students turn empathy into action at the "Be a Lifeline: Recognize the Signs, Save a Life" suicide prevention workshop.

01 October 2025

In observance of Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month, UP Tacloban’s BA Psychology program held a suicide prevention workshop for students on 24 September 2025 at the Leyte Samar Heritage Center.

Seventy-six students from the college’s 10 degree programs attended sessions on the cultural context of suicide and mental health, recognizing signs of distress, crisis response guidelines, referral pathways, and the LAMRAG framework for crisis intervention. They also took part in role-play exercises and concluded the workshop with a pledge to support mental health on campus.
