Public Health Advisory | Influenza-like Illness (ILI)

Influenza-like illness (ILI) cases typically increase during this time of the year. Most cases are mild, but infections can spread quickly in schools and workplaces.
Common symptoms include:
Fever
Cough
Sore throat
Body pains
Fatigue
Prevention
Wear a face mask especially in crowded places.
Wash your hands frequently or use an alcohol-based sanitizer.
Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing.
Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Get vaccinated against flu.
Management
If you have ILI or any respiratory symptoms:
Stay home to rest and isolate.
Wear a mask at all times.
Consult the UPTC Health Services Unit or any medical professional for assessment and appropriate management.
Persons exposed to individuals with ILI but without symptoms may continue to attend work and classes.
Individuals who have recovered from ILI can go back to work or school one day after the fever has resolved without medication (e.g. paracetamol).
