Pahinungód Tacloban partners with Red Cross Leyte, holds Volunteer Orientation and Basic Life Support Training

Thirty-one student volunteers attended a comprehensive volunteer orientation course conducted on 13 November 2024 by resource persons from the Philippine Red Cross Leyte Chapter to prepare the students for active participation in humanitarian efforts.

Red Cross-Leyte’s Safety and Disaster Management Services Instructor Teddy Owen Macorol presented the history and founding principles of the Red Cross movement and the establishment of a Red Cross Youth Council to help promote volunteerism and assist in humanitarian initiatives. The presentation was followed by an introductory training session on basic life support, focusing on first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), which are crucial skills to respond effectively in times of emergency.

At the end of the training, the participants elected the officers of UP Tacloban’s Red Cross Youth Council.
