Pahinungód Tacloban holds volunteer training

The UP Tacloban Ugnayan ng Pahinungód held a volunteer formation training program for 71 student volunteers on 23 October 2024 at the UPTC Leyte Samar Heritage Center.
UP Tacloban College Dean Dr. Patricia B. Arinto emphasized the importance of equipping volunteers with knowledge and skills for effective community engagement.
Ugnayan ng Pahinungód Tacloban Coordinator Assoc. Professor Ervina A. Espina highlighted the need to foster a culture of volunteerism and public service, particularly for the benefit of marginalized communities.
The two-part program consisted of interactive discussions on values formation, team development, ethical standards in community service, and conflict management led by BA Psychology faculty from UP Tacloban’s Division of Social Sciences, followed by training workshops on literacy advocacy, psychological first aid, basic facilitation techniques, and article writing and pubmat design. The one-day program concluded with a discussion on the volunteer recognition and socialization practices of Ugnayan ng Pahinungod Tacloban and a reflection session where volunteers shared their experiences from the training.
