Thirty-two out-of-school youth and Sanggungiang Kabataan members from Barangays 2, 14, 35-A, 51-A, 91, and 110 participated in UP Tacloban’s PAK! (Pukrat, Ato, Kabataan) 2! A Self-Defense Training for Out-of-School Youth held on 13 March 2024 at the UP Tacloban Student Lounge.
Psychology instructor Ms Kimberly Mae Tañola talked about the importance of having basic knowledge of self-defense amid the persistence of gender-based violence. Physical Education instructors Mr. Reynaldo Flores Jr. and Ms. Jackyline Pobre taught striking and blocking techniques in arnis while Ms. Kristelle Yvonne Anne M. Melgazo, bronze medalist in the Flyweight Kyorugi Senior Women’s Taekwondo Tournament in the 2023 SCUAA Regional Meet, demonstrated basic taekwondo.
