BS Bio and BA Psych programs complete external QA assessment

28 April 2025

In line with UP Tacloban’s commitment to academic excellence, two of the college’s undergraduate programs underwent an external quality assurance (EQA) assessment on 23-25 April 2025. The BS Biology program of the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the BA Psychology program of the Division of Social Sciences went through an EQA Type B assessment, in which reviewers from another constituent university of the UP System conduct a comprehensive evaluation of a degree program’s curriculum structure, instructional strategies, and overall program implementation based on the ASEAN University Network (AUN) QA criteria.
The external QA reviewers for the BS Biology program were Dr. Rosemary M. Gutierrez of the Department of Biology, College of Science, UP Baguio and Dr. Rhea L. Gumasing of the Institute for Governance and Rural Development (IGRD), College of Public Affairs and Development, UP Los Baños, while the external QA reviewers for the BA Psychology program were Dr. Alyssa M. Peleo-Alampay of the National Institute of Geological Sciences, College of Science, UP Diliman and Dr. Rizavel C. Addawe of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, College of Science, UP Baguio.
The three-day EQA proceedings included interviews with the self-assessment report writers, key faculty and program administrators, academic support personnel, students, alumni, and employers, as well as an inspection of facilities. The EQA findings will inform continuing efforts to ensure program quality and relevance.
