Scholarships & Financial Assistance

Academic Year 2024-2025

A. Student Learning Assistance System (SLAS) Online

(1st and 2nd Semester of AY 2024-2025)

All UP students except those who have exceeded the approved duration of their degree programs (e.g. students in a four-year program who are already in their fifth year) enjoy free tuition under RA 10931 administered by the Commission on Higher Education.

The University of the Philippines (UP) developed the Student Learning Assistance System (SLAS) to provide additional financial and academic support to financially-challenged students.  The specific financial assistance programs administered are the following:

  1. Grants-in-Aid Program (GIAP)
  2. Tertiary Education Subsidy for financial assistance
  3. Donor-funded Scholarship Programs for additional educational assistance

B. Scholarship Awards and Grants

Students may apply for government or private (i.e. donor-funded) scholarships and grants, which are announced regularly. Scholarships consist of living and book subsidies and are based on both financial need and academic performance.

Screening and selection are conducted by the UPTC Student Scholarship and Financial Assistance Committee (UPTC SSFAC).

The following scholarships with corresponding eligibility requirements are available at present:

1. UP System-Funded Scholarships

a. UP Presidential Scholarship

2. Private Scholarships

a. Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines (AGAP)

b. ONE UPV Foundation (USA) Inc.

(Subject to availability of slots)

c. UP Alumni Association in America (UPAAA) Scholarship

(Subject to availability of slots)

3. Student Assistantship (SA) Program

(1st and 2nd Semester)

The Student Assistant (SA)Program provides undergraduate students the opportunity to work and earn on campus while pursuing their studies. Aside from the compensation, students under the SA Program are able to gain work experience that could help prepare them for employment, entrepreneurship, and community service after they leave the university. Student assistants are placed in different UPTC offices and given an allowance of PhP 60.00 per hour. The maximum number of hours of service per month is 30 hours.
