Maroon Pride Shines as EVR-SCUAA 2026 Opens in Tacloban City

20 April 2026

Bringing the maroon spirit to the center stage, UP Tacloban stood tall with pride and honor during the opening ceremonies of the 39th Eastern Visayas Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association Meet on 20 April 2026.
The UP Tacloban Fighting Maroons—composed of 152 athletes and 34 coaches—marched alongside fellow athletes from colleges and universities across Eastern Visayas in a vibrant parade along the major thoroughfares of Tacloban City, culminating in a spectacular opening program at the Leyte Sports Development Center.
Following the ceremonies, a series of sporting events across various venues in Tacloban City is set to begin on 21 April 2026 and will run until 25 April.
Anchored on the theme “One SCUAA 8: Strengthening Unity through Sports,” EVR-SCUAA 2026 is co-hosted by Eastern Visayas State University, Leyte Normal University, and UP Tacloban.
