23 January 2026

The University of the Philippines Tacloban College participated in a clean-up drive along Magsaysay Boulevard on Friday, 23 January 2026. The activity was organized by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Regional Office VIII in observance of January as Zero Waste Month and the 25th Anniversary of Republic Act No. 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000).

Reinforcing shared responsibility to protect the environment, volunteer administrators, faculty, staff, and students from UP Tacloban collected plastic waste and other litter along the sidewalk in front of AS Complex and Botanical Garden.

The Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 aims to establish a comprehensive solid waste management program, focusing on waste reduction, segregation, recycling, and proper disposal.
