BA Media Arts (BAMA) faculty onducted “Fake News Bantayan, Pagkalingla Likayan: A Community-based Media Literacy Training on Spotting Disinformation and Fact-Checking”

ICYMI || The BA Media Arts (BAMA) faculty of UP Tacloban’s Division of Humanities conducted “Fake News Bantayan, Pagkalingla Likayan: A Community-based Media Literacy Training on Spotting Disinformation and Fact-Checking” on 25 October 2025 at the Tawid Gymnasium in Brgy. Tawid, Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
 
Around 60 barangay officials and residents participated in the training, which included lectures, demonstrations, and guided reflections on disinformation, fact-checking, and digital literacy.
 
Held in collaboration with the UP Tacloban Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, the community training was the inaugural activity in the BAMA program’s COMMVERSATION project, which aims to promote media and information literacy in Eastern Visayas.
