UP Tacloban Division of Humanities held "Litók ug Lawas: Utterances and the Embodied," workshop

08 December 2025

ICYMI || On the 7th of November 2025, the UP Tacloban Division of Humanities held “Litók ug Lawas: Utterances and the Embodied,” a workshop and commemorative program in observance of the 12th anniversary of the Super Typhoon Yolanda tragedy.

The program featured poetry readings and performances by faculty members and students. First year BA Literature students presented the brief, evocative pieces they developed during the workshop led by performance artist and BA Communication Arts alumnus Jay Mar Albaos.

A collective recitation of Padmapani Perez’s “Mothers Speak,” a poem confronting the losses brought by climate change narrated from a mother’s point of view, capped the program. This was followed by a candle-lighting ceremony led by Student Council officers.
